AGNES TRAIL Rating: Due to the overall return distance of 17 km we would classify this hike to be highly moderate to hard, although the trail is mainly a road, there is some steepness near the lake. Time to complete: 3-5 hrs one way, slightly less on returning. Maximum elevation gain: 1600 ft 488 m (to lake only) Maps needed fom the link(s) at the top right of this page: 1 & 4 GROUSE CREEK TRAIL (Barkerville to Racetrack Flats) Rating: Moderate to Difficult due to the distance of travel. Distance: 15km one way, times 2 if returning same way. Add 2.5km if 4X4 transportation is at Rhubarb Cabin. Add 12km and 5-6 hrs if returning via 1861 Gold Rush Pack Trail. Transportation driven to Shy Robin on Grouse Cr. will reduce distance by +-7km Maximum elevation gain: 930ft, 283m Maps needed from the link(s) at the top right of this page: 1 , 2 , 5 , & 6 Rating: Hard due to the steepness and distance one must travel to do the loops. VAN WINKLE TRAIL (Lightning Creek) Rating: Hard due to distance and some of the grades. Trail accesses are south of Ella Lk. on the Cariboo Waggon Rd. Groundhog Lake, 6 or 8 km on 1861 Gold Rush Pack Trail. Need 10 – 12 hrs, unless camping is planned.
